Could you tell me when the unstable wireless connection started? Is the wired connection stable? 

It is recommended that you troubleshoot the unstable wireless connection first before considering a firmware update.

For a wireless connection that is unstable: 
    1) Make sure the Router is properly placed; it should be put in an open area instead of inside a cabinet or shelf.
    2) Change the wireless channel to another one. You may refer to Changing Channel and Channel Width on a TP-Link Router (new logo).
    3) Change channel width to avoid interference. For 2.4GHz wireless client devices, adjust the 2.4GHz channel width to 20MHz; for 5 GHz wireless client devices, adjust the 5GHz channel width to 80MHz or 40MHz, etc.

Based on the feedback received so far, our R&D department has not been able to reproduce any issues related to wireless stability. Therefore, whether the instability is caused by specific environmental factors or firmware requires further analysis based on the user's specific scenario.

Updating to the official firmware following the proper procedures is safe.

In the feedback we've received, some users have reported a decrease in wired performance, while others seem to have no real impact on network operation with version 1.7.1. Therefore, further analysis based on specific scenarios is likely necessary.
