Have just purchased this item.

The set up is easy however when moved more that about 20 feet from the modem the signal LED is showing red.

Is this normal?

Hi,

 

It depends. If it's just 20 feet of air, then it is not normal. But if there was a reinforced concrete wall between router and extender, then it could be normal.

Thanks woozle,

 

My TL-WPA4220 was working at about 50 feet from the modem for some years.

 

I was hoping that a more modern device would be just as good.

 

I'll just have to try to get the WPA4220 working or perhaps buy a new one.

So the RE330 doesn't get its signal through the wiring! That explains it, thanks

Yes, as you have understood, the use case for the RE330 differs from that of powerline adapters; purchasing a new powerline adapter would be a better fit for your specific needs.yes
