Archer BE800(US) in India — 6 GHz support, region lock, and firmware compatibility?
Hi everyone,
I’m considering buying a TP-Link Archer BE800 from the United States and using it in India. Before purchasing, I wanted to clarify a few things about the BE800(US) model specifically.
India currently allows Wi-Fi use in the lower 6 GHz range: 5925–6425 MHz. Since the US model supports a wider 6 GHz band, I want to understand how the router behaves when used outside the US.
My questions are:
- Is the Archer BE800(US) firmware region-locked to the United States, or can the wireless country/region be changed to India in the router UI?
- If the region is fixed to the US, can I manually set the 6 GHz channel so that it only operates within India’s allowed 5925–6425 MHz range?
- Does the BE800(US) allow manual 6 GHz channel and channel-width selection, such as 160 MHz or 320 MHz?
- Will Wi-Fi 7 features like 6 GHz, MLO, 320 MHz, EasyMesh, HomeShield, and the Tether app work normally if the US model is used in India?
- Is it possible or supported to flash India firmware on the BE800(US), or are firmware builds locked by hardware region?
- Would a US-purchased BE800 be eligible for warranty or service support in India?
I’m trying to make sure the router can be used reliably and within the allowed 6 GHz range in India before buying it.
Has anyone used a BE800(US) outside the US, especially in India or another country with a restricted 6 GHz allocation? Any real-world experience would be helpful.
Thanks!
