" I wanted to know that i am currently using the Archer C64 (US) V1, in which channels 36 to 48 and 149 to 161 are visible in 5ghz band. I lived in Pakistan. Whenever i select any channel from 36 to 48, the 5GHZ wireless network gets hidden on your mobile phones; only channels 149 to 161 actually work. If i update the router to EU version, please tell me first; wills channels from 149 to 161 be shown or not? And if they are not shown, then after updating the firmware to EU, will the channels from 36 to 48 successfully connect in our country? kindly provide an answer for this scenerio and also advise me what should i do."

Hi,

 

You cannot change the region of a Archer C64 V1 router via a firmware update. Even if you update with a firmware that you downloaded from a EU country website, your Archer C64 (US) V1 will remain a Archer C64 (US) V1.

 

As far as I know does Pakistan only allow the channels 149 to 161 in the 5 GHz band. Your mobile phones will know that they are being used inside Pakistan and hence will not allow you to use channels 36 to 48.

 

If you are interested, then one thing you could test is to remove the phone's SIM card and switch off the phone's location service. If the phone has no idea where on earth it is located, then it might allow you to use channels 36 to 48.

  @woozle So, it means that even if i install the EU firmware in the Archer C64 (US) V1, all the US channels will still be displayed after the update and no channels will be hidden, right?

According to your original post you currently have firmware version 1.13.15 installed.

If you download both, the "US" version and "EU" version of firmware 1.13.15 and then compare both *.bin files (not the *.zip files), then you should see they are identical.

  @woozle My one concern is that after the update, i might face channel issues, and channel currently showing on the US version might get hidden.

 

Please confirm this for me as well: are there any major bugs or issues in version 1.15? Also, i need your advise on whether i should update the firmware or not.
