Model: TL-WA850RE
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 20190731 Rel. 56748)

I am using 2 range entenders in Access Point mode to provide Wi-Fi coverage over a wide area, as follows:

(1) A TL-WA850RE (single band), which I have had for a few years

(2) A recently purchased R200 (dual band).

The connections made by the former show up on my TalkTalk router as "wired", which is understandable, but those made by the latter do not appear in he router connections list at all. The R200 connections are being madeOK, and can be accessed from anywhere on my network. I would prefer the R200 to behave like the TL-WA850RE, but I cannot see anything in the R200 settings which might cause this. Can anyone help me get the R200 to behave like the TL-WA850RE in this respect?

Hello @NewFibreMan ,

Welcome to our community.

May I know the model of your router? And, what are firmware and hardware versions of your extenders? Please refer to How to find the hardware and firmware version of my TP-Link device

If you remove the TL-WA850RE (e.g., temporarily disable it), do you still not see RE200 in the router's connected clients list?

Please try restarting the router and RE200. After restarting, please ensure that devices on RE200 can correctly obtain network access.

Please confirm that all your network devices are up-to-date.

Best Regards.

  @Joseph-TP

Thanks for your response.

The hardware/software details are as follows:

  • Router : TalkTalk WiFi Hub2 , Hardware  FAST 5464 2.0, Software:  SG4K100242
  • TL-WA850RE v6.0, firmware 1.0.0 Build 20190731 Rel. 56748
  • RE200 5.0 , Firmware 1.1.0 Build 250829 Rel.52371n (6985/8575)

To the best of my knoweldge everything relevant is up-to-date, and I can confirm that switching off the TL-WA850RE does not cause R200 entries to appear on the router connection list (this is actually the norm - it is only switched on when using my computers and printer. The items missing from the router connection list can be "operationally" accessed by my PC and/or are getting internet access via either extender, and appear in the scan list produced by the "Net Analyser" app on my Android tablet (irrespective of which extender it is using to connect to my network). I have done multiple resets of extenders and router in the last few days with no effect, partly in response to your suggestions and partly due to an upgrade of my internet connection to "Full Fibre".

I have set my router up the allocate addresses for the extenders, and have tried changing the the R200 address with no improvement.

Clearly this issue is merely an iritation rather than actual problem, and I raised it expecting to be pointed at a setting I had missed. I therefore do not expect you to spend much time on it.
