TD-W8960N authentication issue
Model :
Hardware Version :
Firmware Version :
ISP :
Hi,
I bought a TD-W8960N v7 yesterday and it was unable to connect to my ISP (TPG) using PPPOE. I have checked and rechecked all settings and they are correct. I took the unit back this morning and got a replacement (same model) and the replacement is doing the same thing. I then checked with an old ADSL router I had lying around, Netgear DGND3700v1, and the connection works perfectly, so the connection works with other hardware. Unfortunately, I cannot continue to use the Netgear as it does not support bridging and is also unstable.
I am able to get the ADSL line to sync up, but the PPPOE authentication fails. As I said, the same username/password combination works with the Netgear.
Steps I have taken to try to fix this:
[*]Replace the router with a replacement (identical model)
[*]Factory reset (holding down the reset button until the unit rebooted)
[*]Downgraded the firmware from TD-W8960N(EU)_V7_160614 to TD-W8960N(EU)_V7_160118
[*]Manually capturing the connection configuration details from https://www.tpg.com.au/support/generalsetting.php instead of using the auto-connection based on ISP.
[*]Contacting the ISP, they advise that they are not seeing any PPP connection authentication attempts for the username in their logs.
Nothing seems to make any difference at all. It syncs, but does not authenticate.
I attach the various info pages and logs. Thanks in advance for any help.
Regards
Mark
