Hi, I'm facing a problem with my TP-W9980B. When I try to connect to a multicast stream via wifi, nothing happens, but if I use the lan port everything works fine..

The setup is as fowllows
Working:
DSL --> Speedport W724 -->(LAN)--> Switch -->(LAN)--> TP-W9980B --> (LAN) --> Laptop
DSL --> Speedport W724 -->(LAN)--> Laptop
DSL --> Speedport W724 -->(WIFI)--> Laptop
Not working:
DSL --> Speedport W724 -->(LAN)--> Switch -->(LAN)--> TP-W9980B --> (WIFI) --> Laptop


Any ideas, how to get that working?

Can you tell me something about TP-W9980B setup? Is this WAN router or only AP?

It's only used as AP. It's set up with DHCP disabled, and fixed IP. Mode is set to "WIFI Router Mode".

Can you show me IP address/mask/gateway and DNS when you have wireless connection with TP-LINK SSID?

Please enter manually DNS to your wireless card for example 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 or DNS from your ISP and will check effect.

I set the DNS to 8.8.8.8 without success...





To be honest, I don't think this is DNS related, because the IPTV streams I try to start are addressed by IP. For example: rtp://87.141.215.251@232.0.20.35:10000

Wireless connection still doesn't work? Can you check ping test to you router IP and for example to google.com?

The connection itself is working. And the internet access has no issues as well (I'm connected by Wifi to my Tplink while writing this).The only thing that is not working are multicast streams. I fear it's either a bug or an imcompatibility within the firmware.I checked the IGMP request using wireshark and it looks totally same if sent via lan or via wifi. Just there is no "reply" if sent via wifi. On LAN the UDP stream starts...

I solved the problem. By replacing the TP-W9980B with a Fritz.Box 4040...
