Hello

I just bought the VR600 from a local official distributor here in Israel. The router HW v1. It came with the following pre-installed firmware:

Firmware Version:0.1.0 0.9.1 v0057.0 Build 160601 Rel.31155n Hardware Version:Archer VR600 v1 00000000

After configuring the router successfully. I tried to auto check for firmware updates, but it tells me I already have the latest FW, which is not true because a newer version is available for downlod:

http://www.tp-link.com.au/download/Archer-VR600.html#Firmware

So I manually downloaded the latest firmware (build 60614). Extracted the bin file

Archer_VR600v1_0.2.0_0.9.1_up_boot(160614)_2016-06-14_11.46.15.bin

And tried to manually update, but got eror number 4503 that file not accepted.

I can only guess that the local distributor has installed a locked firmware to prevent universal firmware updates. Costumer service here in Israel is terrible. No return policy. I called the local service and they told me that firmware updates cannot be guaranteed nor supported.

But there are some bugs with the router. For example, after a reboot, it takes a full 5 minutes until re-connection to VDSL (compared to only 38 seconds on my old Netgear model router).

I looks like I threw 150$ for nothing

Is there anything I can do to unlock it so I can update it to latest firmware and keep getting updates regularly?

This is my second tp-link router. I also own TL-WR1043D which was also purchased in Israel and no problems there.

Please advice.

Thanks
