Model : ArcherC9

Hardware Version : v0.5

Firmware Version : 1.0.0 Build 20170104 rel.46573(4A50)

ISP :

I have an Archer C9 router v.5 with latest firmware and a Seagate Backup Plus Hub (8TB) that is divided in to 2 equal NTFS partitions of approximately 3.6TB (I did that because I understand this router won't see a drive over 5TB).
The Seagate is found after a scan and works as it should when plugged into the USB 2.0 port, but it isn't found from the USB 3.0 port, the led for the USB 3.0 port stays on when it's attached though.

Additional Information

I have tried a Buffalo 1TB hard drive in the USB 3.0 port and that worked fine.
Both hard drives are formatted as GPT type drives and as another test I divided the first partition on the Seagate again to make a total of 4 partitions with the first 2 being less than 1TB, it's still not detected?

After several Emails from the tech support they sent me a beta firmware that seems to have fixed the problem
here is the link:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UOBjQGkInrlKN8LVzja4oKKjJPDNZw5Z/view?usp=sharing

I suggest that you follow their instructions for installing firmware and check your own model no. etc but it seems like this beta is for c9v5 eu-us-jpn

TP-Link Technicians your help worked for me!

According to what I read from the TP-Link manual drives or partitions need to be less than 5TB hence why I originally split my drive into 2 partitions, later I tried even more smaller partitions with no success either I'm really hoping that TP-Link will release a firmware update soon to fix the USB 3.0 issues, even if they do you would still need to split your drive in to 2 partitions. It is very easy to do that I used a free program called MiniTool Partition Wizard, hope this helps!

Hi I just read your post again and you say your drive is working on USB 2 without partitions, may I ask what size does it show the drive is?

I have a Seagate Backup Plus Hub (8TB) that won't work with my Archer D9 (not a C9 but similar). I don't think i have tried the usb 2.0 port but I will when it stops copying. I have also experienced major data loss with a new 4TB on the D9. Would seem the D9 caused it.

Tested the 8TB drive on my Archer D9 in the usb 2.0 and it works! Need to rename the media server name( which was suggested by tplink tech support), and or reboot the router (my guess). I think rebooting the router got it recognized. but try the media server name change aswell if it still doesn't work.

little update
2018-01-29 16:33:59
Alright guys. Im sorry i havent a proper solution, but mine seems to be working on the USB 3.0 port now. This is what i basically done. I was re-arranging my computer and all my cables, so i disconnected EVERYTHING. Modem, router, television, all power cables, basically everything was turned off. Afterwards i connected everything, and again i connected the 8tb hard drive into the USB 2.0 port. I was copying large data files (about 4 hours and still wasnt finished) when i got frustrated and just quit it. I went to bed that evening. Woke up this morning, connected the hard drive to the USB 3.0 port, turned on my PC and voila, it works. Im just telling you exactly what i did so if someone notices a pattern they can point it out. Good luck guys

Thanks for the update, gives me hope yet! Can I ask was the router switched on all the time or did you switch it off too?

Yes the router was off. Say about an hour in total along with the modem. Basically all power sources were off
