TD-W9970 dropping internet connection regularly

I recently bought a TD-W9970 Modem/Router which my PC is hard wired to via ethernet cable and my smart TV connects to via wi-fi. I have noticed that the internet connection to the PC is lost quite often and this problem is most noticeable if leaving the PC untouched, but still powered on, for an hour or two. When I return to it and try to use the internet I get error messages and on checking the router I discover that the internet LED is not illuminated. Powering the router off and back on restores the LED and the internet connection is available again. I have double checked the settings at IP address 192.168.1.1 and all are fine. Anyone else had this problem or can provide an answer please?
