How close are your devices to your router? Are there any neighbours using the same channel such as you? Does the signal have to travel between walls and other objects?

Hello,

With your PS4 connected to the modem directly, bypass the 840N, do you have the same problem?

Besides, you can try to enable upnp to give it a go. You can refer to page 39.

Any updates, just let us know.

Good day.

My router is at first floor and i am living at ground floor and i don't know about channels. yes it travels between walls and object but i get good signals the only problem i have is internet slow down for a moment then come back normal.

Hello, except playing games, do you have the same problem with your computer watching videos/ downloading large files?

Is it possible for you to connect the PS4 to the 840N/modem by wired cable to do a comparison analysis?

Hello,

Sorry to respond late.

First, you can place your wireless device for optimal reception and performance.

here is the instruction to do that: http://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-455.html

Meanwhile, cause the router and you are in different floor, if possible, it is suggested to locate the router at ground floor to avoid the interference.

Besides, you can use a clean channel without so many interference.

i don't think placing router at ground floor can fix that because internet works fine just slows down for a moment which causes lag in game for 1 sec i think and sometimes i get ping spikes for 30 seconds then it comes back normal. and it happens at 1st floor too.

Edit: and my internet goes extremely slow night time. my mtu was 1400 i changed it to 1300 for lower ping and when i set it to 1400 my internet became fine at night but i think theres a lit bit of difference between ping so i will keep 1400 mtu. I think default mtu 1420 is best internet works fine on 1420. I don't know what's happening like after i change mtu internet works fine for sometime then slows down.

Well, seems that not much can be done; what about other devices and other internet activities? Do you have the same issue?

If it still the same with wifi settings optimized and UPnP enabled, you may contact the tech support  to check whether you need a more powerful product.
