Archer VR900v AC1900 DSL Router
Hi,
my dsl-router is not stable working with the current firmware release and you can read many reviews on amazon.de with the same issue. The connections are unstable on both sides (DSL/WIFI). WIFI signal is lost every 30 min. and DSL every 15 minutes (Disconnects). If i do a firmware-update the router is working for one day, after that unstable again. Is there a memory-leak in tp-link firmware? The Boardcom-Chips are unsupported with OpenWrt, so the users has no other choice.
My current dsl configuration is working so much better:
1.) AVM Fritzbox 7412 DSL-Router
2.) TP-Link Archer C6 Gigabit Router Wi-Fi Dual Band AC1200 Wireless
Does tp-link do long term tests with this device and current firmware (Archer VR900v v1)?
I think no! Is there a better firmware available?
If not, is it possible to get the second version of Archer V2 for free?
Thanks.

Hi,
What do you mean The connections are unstable on both sides (DSL/WIFI)? Especially the DSL connection? Any specific symptom? Like DSL led is off or flashing at that moment?
At that time, can you get internet by wired cable?
Meanwhile, try to login to the web page when the connection drops out, and take a full screenshot of the Advanced-status page. Then go to system tools-system log, save log and export it to us.
What is the current firmware also?
Besides, you can follow the instruction below to locate the issue as well.

Any updates, just let me know.
Nice day.

Hi Kevin,
Current Firmware: Archer VR900v(DE)_V1_180525 is installed.
Unstable means, that the 5GHz WIFI and the DSL connection are disconnecting every 15-30 minutes randomly. So you have to wait 30 Seconds for a DSL reconnect or 5 seconds for a wifi reconnect. This product is only for the german market. Why isnt it tested? Is there a german test lab?
My old Setup:
1.) Notebook with Intel 3165 Wifi @5GHz (connected to homeserver via remote session)
2.) Homeserver over 1Gbit/s Ethernet
3.) Archer vr900v v1
With my second setup it is working without any problems:
1.) AVM Fritzbox 7412 DSL-Router (DSL, Ethernet to Archer C6)
2.) TP-Link Archer C6 Gigabit Router Wi-Fi Dual Band AC1200 Wireless (2,4 and 5GHz Wifi, Ethernet)
3.) Notebook with Intel 3165 Wifi @5GHz (connected to homeserver)
4.) Homeserver over 1Gbit Ethernet
Can you tell me please, why the second configuration is working great and my old configuration not?

Hi,
Could you please show us some details so that we can give you a specific answer:
1. The light status of the VR900v when the connection drops out.
2. At that time, please login to the web interface of it and take a full screenshot of the Advanced-Status page and send to us.
3. Then go to advanced-system tools-system log and save log to export to us.
Meanwhile, did you try to change the DSL modulation type to G.dmt?
Note: Go to Advanced-network-DSL settings to change it.
Good day.

The DSL-Connection is now better. After 2 days only one disconnect, this is for my opinion normal/stable (provider disconnect every 24h). I will check this over one week. Maybe my dsl service provider had some problems weeks ago. i did not checked the router-log.
But WLAN/WIFI is sometimes unstable and performance poor with 5G TP-Link Nano Stick.
With ArcherVR900v:
I'am currently connected with Intel3165 (5G/Notebook) and TP-Link AC600 (5G/NANO USB-Stick/Workstation) to Archer VR900v. Distance to the router 4 meter, no walls.
The performance from intel3165 to ArcherVR900v is good. (25 MB/s).
The performance from TP-Link AC600 to ArcherVR900v is bad. (1 or 3 MB/s)
With TP-Link Archer C6 1200AC:
The performance from intel3165 to Archer C6 is good. (35 MB/s).
The performance from TP-Link AC600 to Archer C6 is good, better than expected. (20 MB/s)

Hi,
Maybe there are some maintainence activity at ISP's end which affects the DSL connection, you can take some time to test whether it works fine, any updates, just let me know.
Regarding to the wifi issue, first, it is suggested to change some wifi settings on the VR900V, first, you can fix channel as 36, 40 or 44 and change the channel width to 80MHz.
Meanwhile, please ensure that the firmware is up to date.
May it help and have a nice day.
