Model: Deco P7
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.0 Build 20190117 Rel. 60825

I've just bought a Deco P7, and the first thing I noticed after setting it up and getting all devices connected is that I can't connect to peers by name, only by ipaddress.

network: 192.168.1.1/24

nameserver: 192.168.1.1

PORT      STATE SERVICE
22/tcp    open  ssh
53/tcp    open  domain
1900/tcp  open  upnp
30000/tcp open  ndmps

The port for a dns server is open, and it resolves internet addresses, but if I try to lookup my laptop, which in the Deco App I've called 'chris-laptop', I get NXDOMAIN and I get the same thing when I try a reverse lookup on the ipaddress.

Is this a bug or a feature? How can I get name resolution working?

Thanks in advance

Chris

Hi Chris,

The Deco P7 does not support host name resolution that is why you cannot connect to the peers by its name.

Per you said, we can connect to the device via its IP address.

Good day.
