Hi Kevin, I contacted local TP link support in Spain, who weren't able to help, as they say I have the latest firmware. However I seem to have resolved the problem, at least so far. 1. Factory reset all Decos , 2 M5s and 1 M9. 2. This time as well as changing the password I changed the SSID from the same that I had been using since original set up, to say "TEST". 3. I have left all settings to default 4. Absolutely no problem connecting to all devices across all platforms and no disconnections......or password conflicts. 5. Is it possible that the SSID was causing a conflict across the network? cheers

Hi Mad,

Thanks for your valued reply.

Glad to hear that it works for now, and the wifi network name won't cause the conflict theoretically.

You can take more time to test its performance and stability; any updates, just let us know.

@Mad From TP-Link support: Go into Deco App, More->Advanced->IPv4,

  1. Turn off obtain DNS Automatically.
  2. Set Primary DNS to 8.8.8.8, 2nd to 8.8.4.4

@Mad

Did you have special characters in the password? I bet they didn't test firmware with special characters in Wifi password and that causes problems with some devices. Just my hunch, but I'd bet on it. Now I'm stuck with some devices that can't connect and have to start setup all over. GRRR

@zarkon

Exactly. All deco models does not accept special symbols in password for the Wi-Fi. Tested. Besides the blocklist is nonsense. First block, then allow, like in standard routers. Have no idea why TP Link is so lazy and cannot provide the functionality into deco models since long time. Next thing they do not provide is the option to change the channel. Explanation that system is selecting the best channel is idiotic and there is no logic behind it. One more time they are lazy. Next thing is port 22 opened. It should be some random port not 22 for mesh. And who for a God sake is using root for ssh connection? It is a matter of time when the root password will be guessed, hacked or discovered and provided. This is the basic knowledge in Linux. Never use port 22 and never allow root to connect on 22. I have no idea who work in TP Link but I recommend them to learn fast. This is not how the security should work. The 22 port is used for mesh network with hidden SSID which is repeated on the same channel - next nonsense.
