Model: Archer C2
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 3.0.1

I'm using raspberryPi 2 a VPN & DNS that I installed last week.

I have DHCP in range of 192.168.0.100-192.168.0.255

My router is 192.168.0.1

and my rapsberry pi is 192.168.0.120

Since I install it and I want to use it, I got some issues configure that in the router, because it using same subnet.

I try to change Pi to 192.168.1.1 but then it gone, and 192.168.0.20 still in the same subnet.

What is the right configuration ?

@XDavidT

What is the current network topology? How do you connect these devices together?

Do you want to use the raspberryPi 2 as the local DNS server?

Unbound is pretty easy, supports bind style config files and fairly reliable. If the server will be a stand-alone 'gateway' type box, and you'd like a few extra niceties, you might want to take a look at the firewall/gateway distro called untangle as well. router 192.168.1.1

The main problem here isn't the firewall, is only to get easy using hosts (call an ip by name).

I need only to configure that in the router, what is the IP that my raspberry pi need to get ?

@XDavidT

Per you said, cause the IP of the raspberry is in the same subnet of the main router, we are not able to change the WAN DNS.

While as a workaround, you can change the DNS server under DHCP settings page, the effect is the same.

Good day.

@XDavidT

What do you mean it will be out of the segment? What is the IP and DNS of the Pi-hole?

@Kevin_Z Hi Kevin,

The router is 192.168.0.1, then DHCP is from 192.168.0.100-255

The Pi-Hole is 192.168.0.120

@XDavidT

Thanks for your explanation. The router and the Pi-Hole are still in the same subnet.

So if you want to use the Pi-Hole as the DNS server, you can change the DNS server under Advanced-network-LAN settings page to the Pi-hole one.

May it help. Good day.
