Model: TL-WA850RE
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I've had the extender for a while now but after a recent power cut it will connect to the router and has a good connection, but it is not discoverable on the WiFi list on both my phone and laptop. I've turned it on and off and reconnected it plenty of times already but nothing seems to work.

@RedAce

What is the led status of the TL-WA850RE?

Have you setup a different network name for the extender or you just copied the main router's wifi network name?

If you just copied it, you won't be able to discovery the extender's wifi name. How to verify it: with main router turned off, please check whether the main router's wifi is still there.

Meanwhile, you can change the network name with the Tether app.

The LEDs are what they should be, wireless on, RE on, stable 4 bar connection. I've named the extender to my WiFi extender and I can view it on saved networks, but it just won't show up on the WiFi list. The normal router WiFi works fine.

What do you mean you can view it on saved network but it won't show up in the wifi list?

Can see see it in the wifi list if you forget this network?

What about other devices? Can they detect the wifi name on their wifi lists?

As in, I have used it before and saved it so the network can be seen on the saved network but it won't show up on the available networks. Forgetting it doesn't change anything and it won't show up for anyone else.

Thanks for your reply.

Use a pin to press the button for 1 second to reset the extender. After that, please check whether you can see the default wifi name of the extender.

If so, you can connect to it and reconfigure to make it work.

You can reference this setup video. https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/tl-wa850re/#video

Note: Please create a different wifi name of the TL-WA850RE.
