Model: Archer C5400
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.2.2 Build 20170912 rel:56240

My C5400 router loses the connection to the modem for the internet every thirty minutes for a few seconds (almost one minute). It also seems that the router restarts the WIFI connections. This means that all devices that are connected to the router, such as Google Home, all my smart lamps, etc. must log in again. In the log there is an error message "config importing failed" and this would have to do with the LEDs. I have reset the router to factory settings and the problem remains.

Does anyone know how I can solve this?

----

EDIT:
The connection of the 4 UTP ports is also lost. Very irritating when you watch a movie via Plex ed

@MarcoRenkum

Sorry for the trouble caused, we will do some troubleshooting first and try to fix it.

So the current Archer C5400 will lose connection on both wireless and wired connection, and all the wireless devices need reconnect to the TP-Link wifi to get internet right?

What is the light status of the Archer C5400 at that time?

Please login to the web UI of the Archer C5400 when it stops working, and please take a full screenshot of the advanced-status page and send to us.

At the same time, with your computer connected to the modem directly, can you access internet?

Besides, please follow the instruction below to do some test and tell me which case you belong to.

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2237/

Thanks in advance, and have a nice day.

Hello Kevin,
Thank you for the action taken to solve the problem. I have reset the modem (cisco EPC3925) and the TP-Link router back to Feb settings several times. It seems that everything is working again now. Just to be sure, I have installed the "pingplotter" program to keep an eye on it for the coming period.

Should it be that the data from "Pingplotter" shows that something is not right with the router, then I will come back to this.

Thanks in any case for the effort taken.

@MarcoRenkum

Thanks for your reply, glad to hear that it works well now.

You can take more time to verify its stability.

Meanwhile, for the pinglotter, you can verify whether you can ping the gateway of the Archer C5400 to confirm the network connection.

Any further problem, please let us know.

Best regards.

I am having this issue as well and so far no amount of resets have resolved it. The issue has been happening for months if not longer now and I have yet to find a solution after a whole lot of troubleshooting. I have reset the router multiple times, attempted rolling back the firmware, bought all new cables, and even had the modem switched out multiple times. The router will work perfectly fine and all then all of a sudden the connection stall so I will look over at the router and wait for the orange led to show up on the internet connection. I immediately check logs and the log looks identical to the original poster's. After about 1-5 minutes of connection downtime the connection is usually restored. I have had to reset router a few times to get it back up. I am very close to buying and trying a replacement but, if anything can be done to avoid this I would appreciate it. If I need to create a new post or upload logs let me know as I can get that done. Just know they are identical to the original poster.

Thanks in advance.

By running Pingplotter for a few days on both external IP and internal IP, it seems that everything is now good. The only thing I could find was that my ISP's modem sometimes had no connection for a few seconds. The internal network up to the modem was always without problems.

I therefore think that the problem was not with the TP-Link router but with my ISP.

@Justuh_Dude maybe you should also look at the connection of your modem.

Thanks again for helping me solve my problem!

Understood. Thanks for the info on what you found. I keep going back and forth with my isp and they always seem to want to blame something else. I will check into that more and reply with what I find. Thanks for the quick reply.

ISPs always do that. their network is always good. Try Pingplotter. It's free for the first 2 weeks. Then do 1 target for an external IP or website (microsoft.com), and 1 target for an internal ip number (for example a NAS). Then you can see exactly if it is in your own network (TP-Link router) or if it is wrong outside your network (ISP)

Or just an external one. Yes can also see where it goes wrong if it is between your ISP and router

Hello,

Same problem here with the brand new Archer C5400 v2.0.

At first I always lost WAN connection from +/- 22h00 until +/- 6h00.  All the LAN and WIFI connections stayed ok, just no internet.

Checking everything in the settings, I saw that the NTP-servers were not putting the time correct.  I fixed this by replacing them with IP-addresses.

However the WAN-disconnections stayed the same.

There were no QOS or parental controls configured...

I refitted all cables between the ISP modem.  Strangely enough the problem got better: only a few disconnects from WAN.  So maybe it was the ISP?

I removed the Archer from the network and put my old D-link back in place: problem solved.

I have put my Archer now back and again I see the disconnects.

Here is the log: (btw the date's are wrong again because I did a factory reset and the NTP-servers have again sync issues)
