Model: TL-WR940N
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: Serve

Hello everyone.

In office we use TL-WR940N. It's also connected to some switches and hubs (I think it's hub)

And we have a new router Archer C6.

Questions :

1) Is there any ways to export all configs from WR940N to Archer C6 like a file, so it will be working the same, once we restore the file (backup config and restore).

2) We have 4 Lan connections and 2 wi-fi connections. If we enable 5Ghz it will benefit our wi-fi, but since it's a newer and better router, will also Lan (ethernet) somehow benefit from it ?

WAN, DHCP, Virtual Servers.......also needs to be exported.

In other words, export everything to a new router, without reconfiguring it manually.

@Boriy

First, for the firmware restore, the hardware/software varies due to the different model number, to make it work, we need verify that the model number is identical, be more precisely, the hardware version of the two routers should be the same as well.

Back to your case, there are huge differences between TL-WR940 and Archer C6, including the hardware, the layout of the web UI and the software features. So it is not suggested to restore the configuration files and it may not work after that.

For the ethernet ports, Archer C6 has the gigabit ports, while the TL-WR940N has the 100Mbps.

May it help and have a good day.

Hello @Kevin_Z

Thank you for the reply.

So in other words, we can't export configs to a new one, since they both totally different. WR940 have version 4, Archen C6 have version 2.

Okay, then we might need to configure it manually...

In wi-fi we have technologyes like MU-MIMO, Beamforming and so on. Our 5Ghz will benefit from it.

Will connected Lans also benefit from a newer hardware ? I can't find any technologies related to ethernet port, so only difference will be changing from 100mb/s to 1gb/s ?

I checked we also use TL-SF1016D (max 100mb/s) and TL-SF1005D (max 100mb/s)

Yes, it would be better to setup the Archer C6 manually.

Besides, the ethernet port is used to provide internet, unlike the wireless protocol, it does not have much technologies, while we do get some other services combined with the software settings.

Compared to TL-WR940N, the Archer C6 supports IPTV/VLAN, so the IPTV service is available for the ethernet port.

Good day.
