I'm using a WR702-N to connect a wired IP camera to my home WiFi network.

To do this I've configured Client mode, connected to my WiFi network  and it works fine.

However, it is also acting as an AP with the same SSID as my main router - and I don't want this as it's causing problems with some devices connecting to it instead of my main router.

How can I prevent this please?

Thanks,

Bernie

@BernieAJ

The TL-WR702N won't broadcast wireless network when it works in client mode. Only wired devices can get internet from it.

Below is the instruction to set it up as the client mode:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/395/

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/612/

While if you still want to access wireless network, you can configure it as a repeater mode. Instruction attached below:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/611/

Note: You can customize the wireless network name of the TL-WR702N in step 6.

May it help and have a good day.

Kevin, Many thanks for your reply - sorry, I got the model number wrong, the one that is displaying this problem is a WA901ND (apologies for confusion). I don't think it should be acting as an AP when in client mode but it definitely is so I'm wondering if this is intentional or not? Thanks, Bernie

@BernieAJ

Thanks for your reply.

For TL-WA901ND, please refer to https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/1603/  to configure it as a client mode;

To set it up as an access point, please refer to https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/1606/

Generally speaking, the TL-WA901ND is plug and play, and like TL-WR702N, the 901ND supports wired connection in client mode only.

You can hard reset by holding the reset button/hole for 10s and give it a go.

May it help and have a good day.
