Hello All,

I am using Tp-link wifi router TD-W8961N 300Mbps fixed Antenna Wireless N ADSL2+ at home. I wish to block some unwarranted sites. How to block that particular site? Tp-link settings ask for ip address also. How to find exact address of the site?

Please guide me step by step.

Thanks,

Suraj

@surajp21

Edit:

Hello, this router does not support parental control, to block specific sites, please use URL filter feature.

Meanwhile, it supports access control, you can use it to block device from accessing internet.

Besides, cause the TD-W8961N has been released for serveral years, it does not have some advanced features, if you have more avdanced network requests, you can order a new router with better performance, Like Archer VR600, Archer VR900.

Good day.

Thanks Kevin_Z.

But what does it contain under the menu: access maangement>filter>URL filter.

It talks about giving url address of that particular site and it IP. How to find this IP? check attached file.

Does this really work?

Kindly guide,

@surajp21

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry for missing this feature. You can enable URL filter to block specific website.

You can refer to page 61 of the user manual to do that. Below is the quotation.

To add a URL filter entry: For example: If you want to forbid the user to access the website: www.yahoo.com. Presume the rule is aimed at the interface PVC0, and its index is 1. Step 1: Select URL Filter as the Filter Type Selection. Step 2: Select Index for the rule, and then enter the website in the URL field. Step 3: Finally, select Yes to active the rule, and then click SAVE to save the entry.

For the local IP filed, you can enter the IP address of the specific device which you want to block.
