Hi all;

is there a reason NOT to use address reservation? are there any downsides?

for example, for ip cameras, TVs, smart hubs etc it looks like its even preffered. 

any comments are welcomed.

For some IP cameras or smart TV, or other devices need to be port forwarded, we need setup static IP or reserve a specific IP for them to make them work. 

 

It depends on the actual network requests. For common network devices, router will assign IP addresses for them automatically. 

 

And there is no downside of the address reservation, it is just a feature to setup specific IP for specific device.
