RE450 Half speed
Hi,
I have setup the RE450 to my TP Link router, either wired in or over the WIFI a machine to the RE450 and can only manage 50% speed. I have tested my routers 5Ghz wireless on multiple devices and get just over 90mbps but if I connect the RE450 and use the Ethernet or wireless with the same devices I only get around 40mbps. I do have the both the 2.4 and the 5 set to fixed channels that are less busy.
Here is what I have tried so far and got no result:
- updated the to the latest firmware (RE450(AU)_V2_171220)
- a few locations around my apartment
- setting up the RE450 manually and then automatically
- Turning off the 2.4 channel on the RE450
- Turning off the 2.4 channel on the RE450 and router
Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Hello, what is the led status of the RE450? And how far away between the extender and main router?
With your computer connected to the RE450, please click here to check the wired/wireless negotiation speed respectively.
Next to the RE450, with your computer connected to the main router, what is the speed you can get?
And may I know when did you buy this extender?
Thanks a lot, good day.

I have tired multiple distances. The lights are all solid blue as they should be. I get slightly over 90mbps on my main router right next to the extender.
I purchased it 2 days ago. I've tried all the other solutions / troubleshooting I have found on other people's posts.

Hello, thanks for your valued reply.
We re-read the information provided in your original post, we have some questions.
How did you turn off the 2.4GHz channel on the RE450? Did you turn off the connected 2.4GHz on the RE450 or the extended 2.4GHz?
Thanks in advance. Good day.

I have tried every combination of turning off the channels.
I have an old Netcomm router that I plugged into my TP-Link router then connected my RE450 wirelessly to the Netcomm router and got full speed. So it would seem that there is some problem with my two TP-Link products connection, which is very strange.

@Kevin_Z Which really isn't an acceptable outcome.

@Ky1 did you ever slove this problem - i have the same issue with the RE200
Wifi connected direct to my router = over100mbps
Wifi connected to extender (even when placed right next to router) around 45mbps
TP-link Support i would expect to lose a few mbps because of the extra hop but not half the bandwith???

Having Fiber connection (up to 1000Mb / 1Gb) the TP-Link device is connected to the 5Ghz channel. My laptop is connected to the 5Ghz_EXT channel (TP-Link)
I'm 4 meters (straight) from the device , I'm getting with speed test between 34-40Mb/s
With the regular 5Ghz (to my home router) I'm getting 70-90Mb/s, is there any limitation? maybe fromware limitation?
This is frustrating!!! I've paid money to get less speed connection!
--- And don't tell me to connect the 2.4 channel, this is not supporting high speed internet (fiber connection)
