Hi,

On checking my PiHole DNS logs, it appears that my main Deco device is doing an lookup of a.root-servers.net every 2-3 minutes.

I have the Deco configured in Access Point mode so I don't see why it should be doing this.

Thanks

Dave

@DaveEdi

Hi Dave, Deco is doing a nslookup of a.root-servers.net to ensure that it's online and preset a correct LED status.

@TP-Link_Deco

Thanks for the reply.

Doing an nslookup on a.root-servers.net does not ensure that the Deco can talk to the internet in all cases. In my case, I run my own DNS proxy (PiHole) so all the nslookup shows is that the Deco can talk to PiHole on my local network as the majority of responses are from the PiHole cache.

I assumme that the DEco is doing more than a DNS lookup?

Dave

@DaveEdi

Hi Dave,

The Deco is only doing a nslookup of a.root-servers.net to ensure the Deco is online or not, it doesn't do it for something else.
