Model: Archer MR200
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.6.0 0.9.1 v004a.0 Build 181219 Rel.54042n

So I have a Vodafone sim that is 4G+ and gives me 100Mbps on my phone and Huawei B535 router. Now when use it on the MR200, very rarely does it go above 30Mbps. This is even when connected to an external XPol 1 antenna.

What can I do please?

@benparker The MR200 router is only a 4G CAT4 router where your phone and Huawei are 4G+ CAT6/7+ devices?  4G+ uses two bands to download/upload traffic, so will improve your download/upload speeds.  If you want a 4G+ router then use the MR600 CAT6 router?

@Fl1nst0ne thanks for the reply. What speeds does it max out on then? When I tried it Friday I saw it going 80Mbps but the Huawei was over 100 so left SIM in there until I tried again and it doesn't go up.

@benparker The MR600 4G+ CAT6 router theoretically has a download speed of 300Mbps and upload speed of 50Mbps but other factors are also involved I.e. Proximity to mast, congestion on mast etc.  I also have a 4G Max Vodafone SIM and I currently get 70Mbps download and 20Mbps upload, but then again for Band 1(2100Mhz) I am edge cell and Band 20(800Mhz) mid cell <-> edge cell.

@benparker  The MR200 4G CAT4 router theoretically has a download speed of 150Mbps and upload speed of 50Mbps but as mentioned above there are other factors also involved.  I previously also had the MR200 router and upgraded to the MR600 router as wasn't that impressed with the download/upload speeds I was achieving.

You think it's worth the upgrade? Are there more configuration options than the mr200? Why didn't you go for a different brand router?

@benparker Definitely worth the upgrade.  The best CAT4 router I tested was the D-Link DWR-921.  I was getting download speeds of 30-50Mbps and upload speeds of 5-10Mbps.  Unfortunately, in my case the DWR-921 needed rebooting once a day to maintain the expected download/upload speeds.  When I upgraded to the MR600 CAT6 router, I am now getting download speeds of 55-75Mbps and upload speeds of 15-20Mbps smiley

@Fl1nst0ne any reason you didn't go for a Huawei?

@benparker At the time I couldn't get hold of any Huawei routers to test and as the MR600 router was highly rated, I ended up getting it and haven't looked back smiley

You aren't aware of beta or custom firmwares for the mr200 are you?
