Choosing Router vs Access Point to replace old router
Trying to decide decide if I should buy a secondary router or an access point for my home. I currently have an ISP provided device which is a router plus Wi-Fi in one. However for reasons of home automation projects that I work on I need my Second Wi-Fi network. My options are:
tl-wa901ND - AP - 450Mbps - Wireless N
tl-wr840n - Router - 300Mbps - Wireless N
ac750 - Router - 300Mbps - Dual Band (a,c) - [archer c20]
Im wondering about 2 things:
(1) Compatibility with my existing ISP device (arris). I currently have a TL-WR945N and it works fine with the arris as a secondary router. Arris is locally 192.168.0.1 and it assigned the tplink a 192.168.1.1. I let the kids get on the tplink via their tablets or phones and the apple tv also uses it. My IoT devices such as ESP8266 devices and raspberry pis get on the tplink as well. The arris wifi I use myself.
(2) Would it have issues with my IoT devices? The 945N works fine with them so I would need the new one to be compatible as well.
