Hey all,

So I've just purchased an Archer AX20 router andI'm really liking it, but am running into a small specific problem. I have a a Plex Media Server running, and seem to be having issues with access on the LAN, for some reason it's using a remote internet connection even when accessing over the local network.

I did a little research and it appears to be a problem with DNS Rebinding to the plex.direct address. On my previous FritzBox router I could whitelist plex.direct, but I can't seem to find anyway of doing that with the TP-Link Router.

Does anyone know how I could accomplish this? Or if there's another work-around for this issue?

Thanks.

Hello, may I know the detailed network topology? How is the Plex Media Server connected to the AX20? Is it using a static IP address?

Additionally, how do you visit the Plex Media Server from LAN and via outside?

Hi Solla-topee,

So the back story is I've just shifted house and needed a new router for the new ISP. It's connected over a fibre connection with a pre installed modem, so I only needed the router.

Currently as it stands the Plex Media Server machine is running wirelessly, however I plan to buy a sufficiently lengthed ethernet cable tomorrow to strengthen the connection and see if it fixes the problem (mine wasn't long enough) . Also do you mean WAN static or LAN Static? I have it set to DHCP LAN, but I reserved an IP address for the Plex Media Server machine on the network. The ISP IP address is dynamic.

I've tried outside the network and everything is running great. The problem is only getting the wireless devices to play over the local network. The mobile phones and Chromecast seem to be the only devices correctly doing so. The smart TV, Xbox and Laptops are all connecting over WAN while on the same network.

Thanks

@Solla-topee

Do you have any idea why this may be happening?
