Model: Deco X60
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Since this morning I get the message "Weak Security" for my Deco X60 network and the above message. Any idea what's going on, and where I can configure these settings? I'm on the latest firmware version and am running iOS 14 Developer Beta 1 on my iPhone 11 Pro.

Hello,

As far as I know, it seems that only iPhone 11 Pro running on iOS 14 Beta support WPA3 security, which I think would be the reason why there is a 'week security' notice on it.

Please launch the Deco app-More-Wi-Fi, click on the SSID or password and you will see the WPA3 option, enable it and that's all.

Good days.

Hello all, sorry for keeping you waiting.

We have released the beta firmware for the Deco device to allow you to change the security type now, please refer to the below post for more details:

@MLVC Addition: my iPhone XS (running release iOS 13.5.1) does not show "weak security", both my iMac (on macOS Big Sur dev beta 1) and Macbook Pro (on release macOS Catalina 10.15.5) are connected to WPA/WPA2 Personal. Also note that I've had the Deco X60 since March and only today it showed up as "weak security", so not immediately after installing the beta of iOS 14 (which I did on June 22nd). As I understand it, the Deco X60 should be capable of WPA3 but I can't figure out where that setting is.

@TP-Link_Deco Perfect! Thank you, would never have found that toggle otherwise!

@MLVC I have a TP Link  Deco M5. I have an iPhone 11 Pro and recently downloaded IOS 14 Public Beta. I am seeing the weak security, but I do not have the option to set WPA3.

Developer beta 2 shows weak security again, despite having WPA3 turned on. It also shows it on an iPad Pro 2018 and iPhone X on developer beta 2.  Logged feedback for Apple but figured TP-Link should be up to date as well with this info.

@TP-Link_Deco

We're on to Beta 3. Issue has not been solved, and since other routers with WPA3 do NOT show "weak security" the issue lies with the Deco X60 and not iOS 14. Any chance this will get looked at before the official release of iOS 14? It also doesn't just show on iPhone 11 (Pro) but on every device running iOS 14 (other iPhone models, iPads etc.). Either the WPA3 toggle in the Deco app doesn't do a thing, meaning there's no WPA3 and it's just there for show or something else is going on, but I'd like to see this handled.

Hello, thanks asking.

Currently, as you know, this feature to fix the security type is not available and we do receive some similar feedback. We have forwarded it to the related department and they can work on it.

At the current stage, however, we cannot provide an exact ETA to our customers as the developers need to evaluate the feasibility to add new features and do round and round tests to ensure its performance.

Hope you could understand and be more patient with the firmware updates in the near future.

Thanks.

@TP-Link_Deco Not sure what you're on about. The Deco X60 does have the option to turn on WPA3, it just doesn't do anything. So your developers do not need to add a new feature, they need to fix the existing one.

I understand that I'm running betas on my Apple devices, and that third party software/hardware is not yet optimized for these betas, and yet it requires patience. However, this is an existing feature in the Deco X60 that does not work. The fact older OS versions do not highlight this does not mean it doesn't need to be fixed. As it is currently the existing WPA3 feature on the Deco X60 does not work as it intended.

Hello, sorry for any misunderstanding caused.

Can you please confirm again the WPA3 is enabled successfully? And please also send us the screenshot of "weak security" warning on your iPhone iOS 14 beta 3, thanks.
