Model: Archer C6
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.0 Build 20200402 rel.52000(4555)

Hello,

I have TP Link Archer C6 MU-MIMO router which is working well. Just recently updated the firmware using the inbuilt upgrade option. I had kept my router on channel 6 initially. Now I want to change it to channel 11 but router is not changing the channel. Even though it shows it has changed the channel in the router wireless config page but in status it still shows channel 6. Even on my phone's wifi analyzer app it shows channel 6 for my router. Something's odd. Seems something is broken. Any resolution for this problem? Anyone facing similar issues with their router?

@PrakR

Yes, this is a bug in 1.3.0 .

You have to wait for the next stable version.

There is somewhere in the forum a beta 1.3.6 that fixed this bug.

Search for it.

Also a bug for me is i have to disable 2.4ghz guest network or i will lose the whole 2.4ghz wifi in 1 or 2 days .

Best Regards.

@Ady78

 But if the router is rebooting you will get channel 5 again and you have to reconfigure it. This is not so good...

I get channel 5 too, i can change it, but when rebooting, channel 5 comes up again, not what was configured in ui.

@aTOMic1971 So its a known issue? Ohh man! I should've checked the forum before upgrading. Now I'm facing more issues post trying to change the settings. I thought factory reset might help but it didn't. Now my ping is worse than before. Facing frequent abruption.

I hope TP Link releases stable version ASAP.

@PrakR

Except for the channel bug, if you are using the 2.4GHZ guest network, try to disable if you don't need it.
In my opinion it has to do with it, but still test it, since it sometimes runs for days.

@aTOMic1971 Thanks for replying. I always disable the guest network since I don't use it that often. The issue still persisted.

So installed "1.3.6 Build 20200611 rel.33480(4555)" firmware which I found out from here. It is also buggy but channel can be changed.

After playing with some settings I was managed to make the Internet connection somewhat stable and responsive.

Here are the following settings I changed.

I kept the Mode to "BGN Mixed". Frequency set to 20mhz. Channel set to 11. Disabled TxBF MU-MIMO service.

That seems to have done the trick for now. Though the connection is still slower. I have 20mbps connection, so I get around 16-17mbps rather than usual 18-19.9 mbps. But my ping and latency improved a lot. Will have to test it for some days now for stability. This is damn frustrating. Thanks once again. Community is very helpful.

Update:

The connection is still unstable. From last night to today morning the router disconnected several times. This is not good.

I use the router as a wireless access point. It is not my main router for the internet. However, it runs in router mode because of OneMesh. The LAN cable is in LAN port 1.
Here are my settings that I find important to make the router stable.
UPNP turned off.
IPTV IGMP proxy switched off. Makes problems when video streams come into play. Even if only via WLAN / LAN. I dont use IPTV only TCP streams. (all firmwares)
Never use 2.4GHZ guest network, if you turn it on, you will lose the whole 2.4GHZ wireless within 1-2 days. (firmwares 1.3.x)
All other settings are default.
