Hi all,

Anyone have any experience getting this thing to work? I bought it as the connection to my back bedroom where my desk is, is weak.

I configured the wifi extender originally to use the same wifi name as i figured that would be easier, but just caused nightmares when both the wifi and the extender would try and connect to the device downstairs.

I've separated the wifi names now so the extender uses its own SSID but the connection keeps intermittently dropping which is playing havoc with the work VPN.

Has anyone managed to configure these things correctly that can offer some advice?

@Druss_Prime

Hi, we are sorry to hear that you have trouble with the product.

For the RE dropping-out issue, please refer to this FAQ to troubleshoot at first: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2233/

If still the same issue, can you help us confirm some information:

1. Please let us know the troubleshooting steps you have tried in detail, thank you!
2. How often this issue happens? What about the LED Status on RE when this issue happens?
3. May I know the problem occurs on 2.4G or 5G Wi-Fi?  How long do you have this RE and when did the issue start?
4. Please follow the instruction to check the firmware version of RE:  https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/315/

5. What is the distance between the router and the RE? Did you put RE in very close to router (within)and check stability?
What is the model of the main router? Do you have a stable Wi-Fi connection from the main router? It is important.

6. Does the issue happen on all of your clients or just some of them? What are they?
7. If the RE Led is ON when the issue happens, please follow the instruction to check the IP address, default gateway on the PC when it is connected to the extender's Wi-Fi, then send us a photo to check.  https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/838/

Thank you for your precious time.
Good day!
