Cannot connect to ISP (Plusnet) with latest firmware on Archer VR900
Cannot connect to ISP (Plusnet) with latest firmware on Archer VR900
Hi, I tried upgrading my VR900 firmware to the latest version to try and improve reliability and it is not able to connect to Plusnet (my ISP). If I downgrade to the previous version it works fine. I've tried a factory reset on the new firmware and setup again but it always has the same issue. If I then apply the older firmware again it works without any changes. This is an export of the system log when it tries to connect:

Thank you very much for all your kind feedback.
The latest official firmware has fixed this issue already and please make sure that you are running the latest firmware:
ArcherVR900(EU)_V3_210322

@Kathy_Z thankyou for looking into this. To answer the questions:
1. Its a VDSL 2 connection
2. I did configure VLAN 101 (though when I select Plusnet VDSL as the ISP, it configures that anyway)
3. I tried using both the pre-configured quick setup option and manually configuring as per Plusnet configuration details. Both methods of setup are ok on the old firmware but not the new.
4. I've attached the images of the status and the log direct from a cold boot.

Thank you for this! Guyz you should really double check the options in Services. Some cleaner program disabled mine, so there was no way for my wifi to work. And windows 10 is not smart enough to notice!! Thank you for this advice, man

I have exactly the same problem as OP on this post. My ISP is talktalk. I can connect fine with firmware Archer VR900(EU)_V3_200228; but I cannot establish pppoe conneciton with firmware Archer_VR900(EU)V3_200708.
I have tried factory reset etc with no success. It works with old version firware very time, no success with newer firmware. Same problem as OP/same symptooms, with different ISP.
Was a solution ever found - can you help?
(I need to use the latest firmaware becuase on older version I have the IP address reservation grayed out bug.)

@Drave I can only speak for my VR2800, for which the most recent firmware Archer VR2800(EU)_V1_201104 does work with PlusNet.

@Kathy_Z / @Sunshine - Same issue here as @PeteK0 -
- VR900, PlusNet VDSL
- Archer VR900(EU)_V3_200228 - Works fine, Syncs Up and connects
- ArcherVR900(EU)_V3_200708 - Syncs up DSL, PPPoE won't connect.
Troubleshooting steps:
- Reflashed firmware (ArcherVR900(EU)_V3_200708) again
- Factory reset once flashed 200708 firmware
- Both quick setup, and manual setup of DSL settings attempted.
Same log output as @PeteK0.
I notice reading around that certain other VRxxxx routers have had a subsequent matching update pushed that addresses this issue. Has the VR900 been abandoned or is an update coming?

I've got the same issue as described above with the VR900 v3 so would be interested if there was ever a fix for this. The description for the beta firmware describes better performance so it seems worth moving to and testing.
Will an update be released that allows successful connection?

Hi,
Any updates on this? I have the same issue on my VR900. It looks like a fix has already been pushed out for the VR2800/VR600. Can we get the same treatment?
Regards,
S
