Model: Deco M9 Plus
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.4.2. Build 20200821 Rel. 44341

Dear TPlink experts,

I have a problem with my Deco setup.
Due to certain restrictions in my premises, I had to run my DECOs in such a setup.

(Location A) 1x Router - Private Network (VLAN) - 3x AP (Location B, C, D)

The Router's LAN IP is 192.168.1.1 (subnet 255.255.255.0)
While the DHCP Server is from *.50 to *.250.

I do require to do port forwarding to my devices with static IP (*.87 & *.88) in Location B out, but there is no setting in AP mode to do port forwarding.

And in the AP list, it doesn't show *.87 and *.88. It just shows the device with UNKNOWN IP.

So I looked in my Router and found the Port forwarding functions, but I cannot find *.87 & *.88 in the list of connected devices.
Therefore I am unable to add the IP into the port forwarding list.

Is there anyway that I can input the IP manually into the port forwarding list rather than selecting it from a list?

I believe this function would be great for the other users who wish to have more control of their devices rather than limited by design interface.
TPlink have put this feature as advance option, but it doesn't really appear advance at all.

I could do this easily on my old routers but not on the Deco, it just seemed like such a amazing device but has such an unusable/untweakable interface.

Please advise as I really need to get it to work rather than to throw this thing away and get something more easier to configure.

Thank you.
Billy

@billyseah

Hello,

Just to verify, is your Deco M9 Plus working as an Access Point or Router?

The Deco M9 Plus currently does not support manually adding a port forwarding MAC or IP address, while we have noted that and we will keep an eye on this kind of request. This will go to the related department and our developers, they will evaluate the feasibility.

While as a workaround, you can leave those devices to obtain an IP address automatically, then you can set an address reservation for them.

Good day.

@TP-Link_Deco

I have 4 Decos. 1 is running as a router while the other 3 is running as APs.

TBH, I had tried to run all of them as Routers but I have some other network issues causing them to be disabled by the network's security protocols at times. Therefore I had to tweak around the problems and finally leaving it as the current setup.

I wish it would be simpler just to leave it to obtain automatically and to set address reservations for them. The problem is some of the devices have to be set to run on static IPs due to their specific functionality.

I am using it at home and thought wow, this device would be good for work. I guess I was wrong.

Thanks to the "idiot-proof" design of the app. I have to thoroughly assess the functionalities of TP-Link's devices next time before considering or purchasing them.

@billyseah

Sorry about that the current design is not good for you to manually enter the static IPs, we will improve it via future firmware updates.
