Model: Deco E4  
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 20200918ref 44982

I have the Deco app on my Android phone (Samsung Galazy A20, Android 10).  The app seems to work normally, but I don't get any notifcations from it about updates or when a new device joins the network.  On the Deco App I have Notifications enabled for "update firmware", and in Connection Alerts, New Device Alerts are set to "Push notifications", which says "you'll receive alerts in the Notifications bar".

 

But I don't receive any alerts. I recently manually checked fo updates and it did need to be updated but it hadn't told me about it unti I openned the Deco app to check.

 

Could the Deco app be being blocked by the Android OS in some way?  Is the problem that the deco app is not running the background?

 

I would really appreciate any advice on this.

Hi,

May I know the model number of your Deco?

How about the verison of your Deco APP?

And have you enabled the notifications on the device settings>notifications page?

If the new device is not working, how about setting up the alerts for the known device to have a look?

At the same time, I will follow up on your case by email, and please have a check of your email box later.

Same here. I also did make post on that same issue, but it go no reply. Perhaps, yours will be noticed. 

 

Mine is Android 9.

Just found something else equally interesting: when I try to create Notification alert for known device, an app gives an error every time I try. Screenshot below. Have you tried adding alert for known device?

@Alexandre. thanks for your reply.  I tried enabling notifications for Known Devices and that does work for me.  If I turn on my laptop or turn it off, I get a notification. But this does not work for new devices or for updates. It is a shame that tp-link have not responded to you about this.

Hi,

 

Same thing here with iPhone SE (2020) on iOS 14.3.

I set up notifications for unknown devices and have received zero notification, while we are currently updating all our devices to use our brand new DECO MESH wifi...

I was supposed to receive a notification for each new device, isn't it ?

 

@TP-Link : is it normal ?

Notifications only work if the Deco are in Router mode.

 

When will the alert for Access Point mode will be available?

I run my Deco mesh in Access Point mode. I am getting notification of new devices joining network, in Deco app, in Messages section. I am not getting notifications through Push or email. 

 

So, notifications for new devices joining network are, indeed, available in Access Point mode. What is not working is alerts on smartphone or by email from TP-Link.

The problem is with the Online / Offline alerts.

Hello TP-Link, my Decos are at the latest versions, both firmware and App.
The problem is when the Deco is in Access Point mode.
When the Deco is in Router mode it works ...
