VR2800 clients lose 2.4ghz connection
I've seen this issue raised multiple times on this forum across different TP Link models. I have an issue whereby after a few days clients connected to the 2.4ghz band of the VR2800 lose WiFi connection and are unable to re-connect. At the same time, other devices (eg iPhones) are unable to join the 2.4ghz network - they get incorrect password error. 5ghz and direct LAN devices continue to work without issue.
There only thing that resolves the issue is to go into the web UI and make ANY change to the 2.4ghz WiFi and SAVE. At this point devices are able to connect/re-connect.
Can you please advise? This appears to be a serious firmware issue that is affecting many models. I need a reliable device.
Thanks

Hi, I would like to forward your case to the senior engineers, and could you please help me confirm the following information:
1.Did all the 2.4ghz clients have the same issue or just several devices?
2.Please change the channel to channel 1 and security mode to WPA/WPA2 personal;
3.How often did this issue happen within one day?
4.Please also save the system log on the modem to me;
And please also update to the latest firmware first : ArcherVR2800(EU)_V1_201103

Thank you very much and wait for your reply.

@TP-Link I have updated to the latest firmware and freq. as outlined by in my posts previously I also stated because now we use the 5ghz network we don't know when the 2.4ghz has failed. Not all of the 25+ devices all fail to respond, but I said previously going into router and disabling the 2.4, save, then enable and logout turns everything that has failed back on again.
I'm seriously considering asked Amazon for a replacement, and this the second one with this fault.
I look forward to your reply

Hi, sorry for the delay.
Have you returned this device back to Amazon already?
If not, I would like to forward your case to the senior engineers for further assistance.
May I know what are devices connected to the 2.4ghz band of VR2800?—can I have their model numbers?
Thank you very much.

Hi No I have not returned the AC2800 to Amazon yet. We have three range extenders, 2x WA850RE and an RE305 All of these continue to work when the 2.4 fails on the AC2800, We have over 20 smart switches mostly TP-Link with a few Amazon ones. The 2.4 network is failing at least twice a day and every morning after breakfast I have to go into the router disable the 2.4, save it, enable it, and re save it and log out and the 2.4 then comes back online! I forgot both our mobile phone only have the 2.4 network so they also fail to connect to the Internet.Dave

Hi, Did 2*855RE+1*RE305 all work on the wireless range extender mode?
And did they all have the same SSID?
Since there are plenty of 2.4ghz devices and 2.4ghz is easily affected by the wireless interference, have you ever considered setting up 2*855RE as access points(connected to 2800 via Ethernet cable) and move some of the smart devices to the 2.4ghz of 855RE?
Thank you.

@TP-Link Hi they all appear to work ok, we have 6 SSID broadcasting from the Router, so to avoid confusion I've added 2.4 & 5G to the existing names. ie B37D_2.4 & B37D_5G.
The RE305 is on the network list as above but with _EXT after the 2.4 & 5G.
The two 855RE appear to work as they connect to the Router with 3 bars strength showing but they don't show up in the SSID list anymore.
One of these is for two outside Cameras which have stopped communicating since I changed the SSID names.
The other 855RE was for a connection to a new EV car charger which is also not showing up in the list.
It is not practicable to use Ethernet connections as some of there are in walls and light bulbs.
I'm ordering an other RE305 as theses are dual band whereas the 855RE's are only single band.
I'm trying to move as much as possible off the 2.4ghz network (20+ smart devices) to the 5ghz band. It's a pity the TP-Link smart switches are not dual band!

@swall We are still having the 2.4 dropping out on us and the only way to fix it is to connect to the Router on the 5ghz turn off the 2.4 save it, enable it and save and exit.
As soon as I connect to the 2.4 again it works straight away.

On 2.4Ghz Wireless settings, please change channel width to 20Mhz and see if that help wtih the issue,
At the same time, we'd like to follow up your case via email with forum ID 235762, if issue persists please feel free to let us know via email so we could help further, thank you.
