Wrong username/password trying to access USB HDD connected to Router
I have an external HDD connected to my Archer C7 router through its USB port. I can only access it if I have "Enable Authentication" disabled. Then, I can access it through Win+R → \\TP-Share\. However, having no password is not an option, since my network is shared with other people.
When I enable "Enable Authentication", I get a login window and I get a message saying my username or password is invalid. See the image bellow:
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, it seems that Windows computer has remembered the previous SMB login info, you are suggested to log out from the Windows or just simply reboot the computer, you should be able to login with the credentials.

Thanks for your reply. But it didn't work. I still get a wrong username/pw message.
I'm convinced I'm not using the proper format for the username. Should I use \\TP-Share\username, \\192.168.0.1\username... or what? Any idea?
So far, I can only access it by disabling authentication, which is terrible.

@athayde Confirmed as a bug in latest FW.
Now, question for tp link engineers, why you are working on useless features like Alexa and in the background breaking existing feautures like SMB2 support?
I mean, how difficult that can be?

I find it temerarious to know it is a known bug - and a big security one. How could TP-Link didn't fix it already?
It wouldd be nice to get a position from the company.

@athayde - Hi, I have the same problem as you. I bought an Archiver c7 last week and everything worked. Then I upgraded the firmware and windows no longer takes my password. The router I bought just for usb disk sharing ;o/
I have tried on multiple devices and the problem is the same, so a bug is in the router firmware. TP-link never more >:o(

Hello all, do you encounter the same issue that cannot access the HDD once it is encrypted? Can you please tell us the brand and model number of the HDD?
When you try to access it from \\TP-Share\Volume, are all of you encountering the same wrong username or password error on the latest firmware? If possible, can you downgrade to the previous version and confirm if this will work again?
We will soon ask our engineer to look into this issue and get back to you ASAP, please kindly wait.

I don't use HDD, I am using USB flash stick and can only share without authentification and using SMB1
When I switch on authentification I am asked for username and password and it never works.
I have tried from android and windows 10 machines, same problem, no access when authentification is enabled.

@athayde yes, i also tried 2 usb flash drives and i have the same experience. Username or password is incorrect. One of the usb drives is the Corsair 64 Gb. I can try the previous firmware version, but there I had a problem with the stability of the wifi connection.
I try it on windows 10 and android phone Huawei P10
