Model: Archer C50
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

We are a large household with a lot of devices using this modem router. It is disconnecting devices and then reconnecting them a few minutes later. I believe this is the 'connect on demand' setting and that I need to reset it to 'always on' so even if the internet does slow down with multiple devices connected it does not disconnect them. We are on fibre 50mps and the line isn't a problem. I can't find where in the settings I can switch it to 'always on'.

@paulcanning

This is from C50 HW v4. Your WebGUI may look different, but the location should be similar:

@paulcanning Thanks so much for response. That's the option I can't find. The connection type is greyed out.

@paulcanning

Thanks! I clicked 'on demand' and set idle time to '0'. That should work. Very much appreciated yes

I believe it's better to use 'always on' like you were intended to.

@Ivaylo yep, still disconnecting. There isn't an 'always on' option and was set to auto.

@paulcanning I enabled ipv6 and that seems to have helped.

@Ivaylo hasn't done. Still disconnecting. Will see later when it is quieter whether it is still doing it but I guess still haven't found that 'always on' option?

In your case it is 'Auto', but not 'Always on' and probably these disconnections are caused by something else. Try to browse through the device logs and see if something abnormal there. During a drop off event are there any change on device LEDs (blinking, off, on, color change) ?

Exactly how many devices do you have connected to that C50 ?
