Why i can get only around 50mbs on 2.4ghz while on 5ghz i get around 250-300mbs?!

i tried to chanage channels and playing with some other settings but still I can't get more than that!!!

Hey

 

The 2.4ghz spectrum has a number of limitations that can reduce speed.

 

The maximum channel width for 2.4ghz is 40mhz, this basically means the fastest speeds you can expect to connect is 300mbps using a dual channel card (2x 150mbps).  However this is highly unlikely to happen in reality. 

 

There are only 3 non overlapping channels to use (1,6 and 11 see figure below) so running at the full 40mhz width will flood 50% of the total airspace in this frequency.  You are guaranteed to encounter traffic and/or interference from everything and everyone.

 

In reality the 2.4ghz is almost unusable for speed, 50-70mbps is normal, perhaps ~120mbps if you live miles from anyone else and dont own a microwave 

 

Most people just use 2.4 for Alexa, Smart devices, very basic surfing etc.. 5ghz or the new 6ghz if you need the speed
