Dear all,

My Archer AX-50 router is used as an extra access point in my home, the DHCP server is disabled.

The blue WAN port is not in use, is there an option to get the OpenVPN server working?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Kindest regards,

Hans van Dijken

@Hans1967

Fact is, a router is required to forward data packets between two or more computer networks.

So, if you want to connect via VPN (Virtual Private Network) to the LAN (Local Area Network) at your home, i.e. two different networks, then you need a router.

An access point (or a "router" that is running in access point mode) doesn't have routing capabilities, hence it would be useless to run a VPN server software on an access point.
