Best option for the full house...

I have a good few areas on the house where I struggle with Wifi signal so I am looking at taking the plunge and finally getting it sorted. My internet is via Virgin Media with a bandwidth of 500Mb.

I currently have a AV600 powerline kit to get Wifi into the furthest bedroom.

If I fill the house with more powerline kit (and the same SSID) will my devices just pick the best one or will I need to go down the route of the mesh type, say Deco M9?

Help!

Thanks in advance.

@Lee_R Hello,

Most nowadays devices with" roaming" feature could roam from Wi-Fi to Wi-Fi (a stronger Wi-Fi) automatically between different APs, but there will be a few secs to few mins shortcut off. If you use more Wi-Fi powerline extenders, your devices could choose the stronger wifi.

Fast roaming: Deco system supports 802.11k/v/r fast roaming and make the roaming process more quick  ( your device should  supports 802.11r to use fast roaming )

If you need to move around while using Internet like taking video calls/ internet calls, you could consider Deco system; and vice versa.

Topology: Deco system mainly use Wireless or Ethernet connection to build Mesh. If you are using WiFi ,extender Deco should get enough Wi-Fi signal from the main Deco.

Powerline devices utilize the house poweline and device should be in the same powerline circuit/ under same power meter.

Speed: AV600 is a basic powerline model which uses a 100 Ethernet port, it sells well. If you need higher speed, you could consider AV1300

Deco Device spec varies ,you could check this FAQ :

@Solla-topee

A reset has cured the AV600. Absolutely buzzing now, many thanks for your help and advice.

Thanks for the info, I have taken the plunge and bought the AV1300.

I am a bit dissapointed though that the original AV600 won't connect into the this new network. Do you always have to buy the same units?

@Lee_R Good day.

AV600 and AV1300 are compatible, you could refer to this instruction to pair the powerline units/ add an extra powerline unit by Powerline Key:
https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/1615/

Note:  put the 3rd unit close to the main adapter or 2nd unit in a wall socket when  add the 3rd unit.

@Solla-topee

Awesome. I couldn't get the AV600 to go into pairing mode. Might have to reset it first and try again. I'll let you know how I get on.
