Model: Archer C7
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.1.2 Build 20210125 rel.37999(5553)

Hi guys,

I've a Archer C7 router with OneMesh network active and working with Tp-Link RE300.

However, after I touch WPS sync I saw that there is only 2.4ghz connection between them how you can see in the picture attached. There isn't connection 5 ghz wi-fi between them. How I to active it? I already try to do the configuration by webpage and Tether app, but without success!

I'd like to know if it is normal? I think it can be a bug in my router. Is it possible?

Observation: the router dual band wi-fi is active. It was active before I touch WPS sync with RE300. I am use the option: "Smart Connect":

Screen location (Archer C7 Router Web Setup):

Guide Advanced > Wireless >> OneMesh >> click in "RE300" name

Router: TP-Link Archer C7 (AC1750) V5.0 (last firmware updated from tp-link support site)

Repeater: TP-Link RE300 V1.0 (last firmware updated from tp-link support site)

@Guy01 What is the region version of the RE450? Is it US version also?

If the RE300 is an EU version, it might be that the 5G wireless channel on the C7 is not compatible with it, you can try to disable the Smart Connect feature on the C7, then manually choose a 5 channel like 36/44/48, then try to add the RE300 to the Onemesh network again.

@Kevin_Z

Resolved!!

The 5 ghz wi-fi between them is working good.
Good work!

Some screenshots:

1) Archer C7 Router:

1.A- I disabled the Smart Connect feature and set "48" in the Channel.

1.B- I can see the 5 ghz band OK with RE300.

2) RE300 Mesh Repeater:

- from of this I can see the 5 ghz wi-fi status is OK. Channel 48.

3) RE450 Non-mesh Repeater:

- from of this I can see OK too. Nothing changed. It was possible to connect auto at 48 channel of Archer C7.

I'd like to know if the same SSID for both 5 ghz and 2.4 ghz is equal work or similar at the Smart Connect feature when enabled ( ? )

Thanks a lot!

That's interesting. Is the WPS still active on the router web GUI? You can check it on the Advanced > Wireless > WPS, try to disable it if it still shows active, then reboot both the router and the extender to check again if the 5G shows good.

Hey @Kevin_Z ,

How is it going?

I tried it - to disable WPS and reboot both router + repeater. But 5 GHz wifi is not working.

I have a TP-Link RE450 and it is connected to Router Acrcher C7 in 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz. - OK

But when I connect my TP-Link RE300 to router via OneMesh network or not, this repeater connect only 2.4 GHz. I printed some screens.

So, I think there are two options:

 - or my router's 5 GHz wifi interface is not working with onemesh feature;

 - or my re300's 5 GHz wifi interface is not working with onemesh feature;

Obs: about of 5 GHz wifi ...

 - my 5 GHz endpoints clients connect to RE300, to RE450 and to Archer C7.

 - my 5 GHz RE450 connect to Archer C7.

 - my 5 GHz RE300 didn't find Archer C7, via mesh or not mesh.

 - my 5 GHz RE300 found RE450 once, than I tried again but the connection didn't appear.

See below:

1) Archer C7 Web GUI - Netork Map:

2) Identifying 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi on the RE450 (this model not support mesh network) - It's OK:

3) Identifying 5 GHz Wi-Fi on the RE450 (this model not support mesh network) - It's OK:

4) Repeater RE450 <> Router: 2.4 n' 5 GHz are linked - OK:

5) Identifying 2.4 GHz Mesh Wi-Fi on the RE300 - It's OK:

6) Identifying 5 GHz Mesh Wi-Fi on the RE300 - looking for wifi network:

7)  Identifying 5 GHz Mesh Wi-Fi on the RE300 - Is not OK - No connection:

8) I checked all items, but my router seems OK:

9) Repeater RE300 - Netwok Map - 5 GHz wasn't established connection:

I didn't understand why it show infos about 5 GHz soon below (SSID, Chanel and MAC address):

10)

Note1:

I powered on RE450 before of RE300 and I did scanner the wifi devices:

 - my 5 GHz RE300 found RE450 (C80_Extender), but it didn't find my Archer C7 (C80):

 - then I tried scan again and the RE300 didn't find RE450.

Note 2:

+ + "Wireless" section on the RE300:

apparently appear that RE300 5 ghz wifi is sync with router 5 ghz. But of the fact is not.

Today I restarted it about 20:26 ...

@Guy01

Thank you very much for all the detailed info. I want to confirm again how many devices in this network, Archer C7, RE300, RE450, is there another Archer C80? If possible, can you draw us a detailed network layout, how are they located?

As per your first post, it seems that the RE300 was in the Onemesh network and connecting to the 5G network fine before you pressed the WPS button on the C7, am I right? Is it OK to reset the RE300 to factory defaults, then you can reconfigure it to join the Onemesh network again. Here is the guide you can refer to:

Thanks for reply.

"As per your first post, it seems that the RE300 was in the Onemesh network and connecting to the 5G network fine before you pressed the WPS button on the C7, am I right?"

 - No. I bought this RE300 recently. It was first tome I try to connect it on the my network pressing WPS button. Before of I try it I powered off my RE450. So the layout network was:

[Modem] <=> [Archer C7 router] <=> [RE300]

I tried with OneMesh enabled and disabled too, but in both the 5G band between them is not connect. I think that the RE300 repeater is with factory defect.

I already tried to restored to default factory both RE300 and Archer C7 before of configuration again. Just now I did it. But no success!

Do you think that a new firmware version of RE300 could to fix that?

Obs:

the RE300 tag located after side has serial number followed by "EU/1.0" and the Archer C7 has "US/5.0".

My devices are:

1- ISP Modem

2- Archer C7 Router

3- RE450

4- RE300

When all device are conected, the layout is:

[Modem] <=> [Archer C7 router] <=> [RE300]

                              ||

                         [RE450]

Endpoints: smartphones, laptops, DVR and Smart TV.

"What is the region version of the RE450? Is it US version also?"

- No. It is BR version.

"If the RE300 is an EU version, it might be that the 5G wireless channel on the C7 is not compatible with it",

- I think so. Can be it.

"you can try to disable the Smart Connect feature on the C7, then manually choose a 5 channel like 36/44/48, then try to add the RE300 to the Onemesh network again."

- OK. I will try again of this mode. After I'll post here if worked good.

Thanks.

@Guy01  That's great to know it works.yes

You can leave the Smart Connect off, and use the same name/SSID for both the 2.4G and 5G network, it will work without an issue.
