I've obtained the connection details (username, password, protocol) from Vodafone but I can't get the TP-Link AC2800 to connect.

 

Where can I find the hardware and firmware versions please?

On the bottom sticker you can find the HW version and FW region of your device - just follow the guide.

The following screenshot might help setting up your Internet connection:

 

Your connection settings should look similar to these:

@oldcelt Thanks very much for all that help.  However, the bottom sticker doesn't mention hardware or firmware version.  It shows:-

Model: Archer VR2800(EU) Ver: 1.0

S/No:

MAC:

Wireless password

SSIDs (2.4 & 5G)

 

And that's it!

@oldcelt Thanks a million.   How the average man-in-the street is supposed to know that is beyond me!smiley  The words "hardware" and "firmware" are not specified.

 

I really appreciate your help and will try to set everything up in the morning - just about to have our evening meal now.

I've tried meticulously (4 times) to set up this router in line with your advice but it will not make an internet connection.  I've had Vodafone download connection details twice to be sure there are no inaccuracies - both downloads agreed exactly.  All my settings were entered using an ethernet connected laptop and all connection details carefully entered by hand from the keyboard.

Is there a chance this unit, although allegedly new, could be faulty?
