Confusion on WR940N Firmware Version naming, please help
2021-08-26 12:39:49
Model: TL-WR940N
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version: 3.20.1 Build 200316 Rel.34392n (4555)

Please Help, Recently I notice that sometime my device got disconnected from the Router by itself, and it seems that the signal/SSID of the router is suddenly missing for a moment, and comeback again after a while (around 10-20 seconds).

The connected device is located near the router (<4 meters) separated with 1 thin wall.

So far, I read that many suggest for a firmware updates on the router itself, which some fixes their problem by doing so.

But when I check the Download Center for the WR940N firmware, I got confused by the version and not certain which version is suitable and which one is the latest or is it newer version compared to the current firmware version that installed on my routers. The same goes for the WA855RE that I use.

I only found :

1.  TL-WR940N(US)_V6_200316

2.  TL-WR940N(EU)_V6_180119

The information on my router :

Firmware Version:

3.20.1 Build 200316 Rel.34392n (4555)

Hardware Version:

WR940N v6 00000000

Any help is appreciated..

@LieLianX

Your HW version is v6. To determine what's your FW region (EU, US) use the bottom sticker of the device.

Then download the appropriate FW from the support site and upgrade.

If this was helpful click on the arrow pointing upward to make it blue. If this solves your issue, click the star to make it blue and mark the post as a "Recommended Solution".

@terziyski I Tried to check for the version and it turn out to be V6 (EU).. but as I mention above, it seems that the firmware version on the download center is older than the installed one on my router, am I correct? is the any newer firmware version for my WR940N V6 EU?

Here you can download the EU version from. You already have the latest available on your device.

@terziyski

Thank you for your help on the right link. As you mention that I already have the latest firmware install, then do you have any idea about my sudden connection lost? it happens randomly..
