Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.3 Build 20200918 Rel. 74289

Hello!

I have a problem with my 3 Deco M4s. The lan layout looks like this:

Router with modem (fiber) -> Main Deco

                                           -> 2x other Decos

They don't have stable wifi connection (which is impossible in my setup), but they are all connected to the router via ethernet. When I unplug mac from my deco (it's connected via ethernet), after some time it's starting to blink red. It also affects my second "auxiliary" (not main) deco which is also loosing internet connection. Everything starts to work fine when I plug my mac. Someone had similar issue?

@Darnok

Hi, may I know the model number of your main ISP router?

Did M4 work on the access point mode?

Was the MAC connected to the main Deco, or the 2nd or 3rd auxiliary Deco?

Were you able to reproduce the same issue every time unplugging the MAC?

Thank you very much.

@TP-Link

Hey!

Yes, I'm always able to reproduce it by unplugging the auxiliary deco M4 (which my computer is connected to). Then it all starts to work again. My ISP router is Huawei HS8546V. Just to clear this out - this router is connected to every deco via ethernet. They are not directly connected in any sense. M4 work in access_point mode. I've put my main deco into DMZ on the Huawei router but still has the same issue. I also noticed that I needed wifi connection for the first setup - seems like they were having problems with discovering themselves via LAN. But they all got the ip address.

Hi, thanks for the update.

Just to be clear:

 The network topology is kind like this:

Once you manually unplug MAC from Auxiliary Deco M4, all Deco M4(the main +2 Auxiliary Decos) started to blink red.

It would not auto recover automatically until the MAC Is plugged back?

Would restarting the main Deco get the connection back?

May I know the model number and operating system of your MacBook?

Later I would like to forward your case to the senior engineers for further assistance.

Thank you very much.

Thank you for looking at this case! Yes, topology is correct

>Once you manually unplug MAC from Auxiliary Deco M4, all Deco M4(the main +2 Auxiliary Decos) started to blink red.

Yes - auxiliaries are down

>It would not auto recover automatically until the MAC Is plugged back?

Yes

>Would restarting the main Deco get the connection back?

 Nope - auxiliary has to be restarted

> May I know the model number and operating system of your MacBook?

Macbook Pro M1

>Later I would like to forward your case to the senior engineers for further assistance.

Thank you!

@TP-Link Hello!

Were you able to move this case forward? I still have the issue. Looks like Deco is loosing internet connection once I unplug my mac. Then I can only fix that by reconnecting mac with deco (mac needs to have wifi, otherwise it looks like Deco can't find itself in the network. Only connecting computer (via ethernet hub) + wifi + resetting the auxiliary deco can help. Sometimes resetting the main deco can also help. That's super weird...

@Darnok

Hi, thank you for the update.

Sorry for the delay.

I have forwarded your case to the senior engineers and please check whether you could receive any email.

As for how to restore the connection: Only connecting the computer (via Ethernet hub) + Wi-Fi + resetting the auxiliary deco can help. Sometimes resetting the main deco can also help.

“Resetting” here, I guess you mean restarting the Deco: power off/on?

So it would be like: plug the MAC back, then restart RE Deco1 or main Deco?

Yes, I unplug and plug the auxiliary (since i cannot connect to it) or I do a software reboot of main Deco (which still is connected to the internet and can be accessed)
