Model: Archer VR1600v
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: Firmware Version:0.1.0 0.9.1 v5006.0 Build 200810 Rel.5318

This router is part of the broadband offering by TPG in Australia.  That means a wide national rollout.

But the router blocks passive FTP transfers (local client to remote server), and port triggering is useless for any but an arbitrary port range.

Please tell me how to enable FTP (not a local or UPnP FTP server, just a local client going to remote server).  Why can I not just open all ports for FTP use?

Surely you haven't disabled or crippled an entire internet protocol?  Surely I am missing something really simple here.  Right?

@Voltaire

hi, thank you for your time and patience.

Sorry for the delay.

I don’t think you need additional settings for this passive FTP transfers.

Are you able to ping this server when connected to VR1600v?

I guess you are able to access this FTP server on another network?

Maybe you could change the DNS server to be 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 on the modem to have a look:
