2.4Ghz channel width selection (20MHz)

Model: Deco X60
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.5.0

The 2.4Ghz performance of this deco is really bad, turns out its using 40mhz channel width and there is no way to change it.

I am next to the router and I am able to get full speed of my internet 300Mbps on the 5Ghz, so i turned off 5ghz and enable only 2.4Ghz, i only get 1 to 12Mbps and its going up and down. i plugged in my old router, turn on only 2.4Ghz with 20mhz channel width, i am able to get 60-80Mbps.

There is no point using 40Mhz on the 2.4Ghz if its not faster and not stable at all, especially in a place with crowded wifi. I have another house with deco m5 and suffers the same issue as well. its unbearable when we're on the 2.4Ghz. i have been recommending deco system to friends and families, its quite a turn off when the wifi is bad if youre not near the router or your device only support 2.4Ghz.

Does tp-link planning to enable the channel width selection?

@GothFebrio

Hi, there is still no plan to enable channel width selection.

Back to the current issue, it might be too early to blame the channel width.

Could you please help me run the following test:

1. power off the satellite units of Deco X60.

2. still only enable 2.4ghz, and turn off the 5ghz.

3. connect your device to the 2.4ghz Wi-Fi, and test the download speed and link speed(How to check the associated/link speed on a wireless client).—please leave me some pictures of the download speed and link speed.

By the way, what is the current channel for 2.4ghz?

Thank you very much.

  @TP-Link

Heres a speedtest screenshot from my iphone. Deco X60 is running on 2.4Ghz only.

So i got my brothers Android to see the link speed. The speedtest is around the same.

The 2.4Ghz is on channel 10.

It seems that my macbook pro which forces 20Mhz is facing the same issue as well on the 2.4Ghz.

FYI, this is the speed on 5Ghz

Hi, thank you for getting back to me.

In this way, the channel width might not be the problem of the slow speed on the 2.4ghz.

Did you test the speed via the main Deco X60?

For your android smartphone, the link speed is far too slow, only 17m/s

On the Macbook pro, it is 145m/s, not bad, but compared with 574m/s of X60, it is still not good.

Are you able to test the link speed when Android and Macbook are connected to a different 2.4ghz network?

May I know how long have you had the Deco X60 and when did this issue start?

By the way, how many 2.4ghz online clients do you have?

  @TP-Link

Yes i tested it on the main deco, the other decos faces the same issue as well.

This is my macbook pro on a different router i plugged in the network.

I have had this deco since May 2020. Didnt really notice it at first. But it happens. My friend who i recommended a set of deco m5 is facing the same issue as well.

I have 25 clients on 2.4Ghz out of 49 wifi clients. This includes lights and other smart home devices as well devices that is far from the router.

  @GothFebrio the router sets the channel, not the client.  You are experiencing the same thing that I did as well.  Bad design and Tp-Link won't even acknowledge it.

The link speed is far to slow as you point out because of all the interference from the 40MHz channel!!!  This is what everyone is trying to explain to you.

I agree, this has been requested for years!

Manual channel selection and width, but at the very least an option to set the 2.4GHz channel to 20MHz!
