Model: Archer AX53
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.4 Build 20220114 rel.37115(4555)

Hi,

Have a router Archer AX53 AX3000 (EU) V1.

No matter which bandwidth (40, 80 or 160) or the channel (36 to 140) that I manually select on the router, it will change to the desired channel, but always keep it at 40Mhz.

So, for instance if I have it on channel 40 at 40Mhz and change it to any other channel AND set it to 80Mhz, it will change the channel, but keep it at 40Mhz.

I tried every possible combination and it always remains at 40Mhz, although the router shows in the admin page that it's on 80Mhz (which is not).

Also, in another subject, the router only allows to choose channels from Band 1 to Band 3 (36Mhz to 140Mhz), missing Band 4 (149Mhz to 161Mhz).

Are these two separate questions in fact bugs, or is it operating as expected?

Thanks.

Band 4 is not available in TP-Link devices with EU FW region due to the EU regulations.

For 5GHz channel try setting wireless channel to 36 and channel width to 160Mhz.

If this doesn't hold steady try with channel 100 and keep the channel width at 160MHz.

Yes, they are pretty much similar as models.

Read through this story about the 5GHz experience with DFS channels. At its the end you may find the answer of your second question, regarding Band 4.

As for your first question I would suggest to turn off your RE (which is in OneMesh with your AX53) and test different combinations of wireless channels/channel widths (described in that story) to exclude the possibility of OneMesh setup causing this behavior.

Thanks.

Initially, I tested it under a OneMesh connection with my RE600X.

Further on, I disabled the onemesh option and turned off the RE600X, rebooted the router Ax53 and tested it again:

- Smart Connect off
- OneMesh off
- No radar interference detected. When selected, the router maintains DFS channels without interruption.

Same results on both separate issues:
1. No 80Mhz, no 160Mhz. Just 40Mhz.
2. No band 4 [149Mhz to 161Mhz).

Btw, I believe the AX53 is virtually exactly the same as the much more common AX55, but without the USB port.

So, perhaps some AX55 users might be experiencing the same issues.

  @terziyski

Thanks, was not aware of that EU restriction.

Turns out there's nothing wrong with the 5Ghz channel widths on my AX53.

I was using NetSpot to scan wifi signals. It shows neighbour wifi signals at 20Mhz, 40Mhz, 80Mhz and 160Mhz, just not mine. Mine's always 40Mhz. Go figure.

Installed another tool on my laptop and now it is showing my wifi at 80Mhz.
