Model: Archer AX55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0 Build 20220428 rel.64552(4341)

Anyone have TimeMachine working properly with this router?

I managed to get mine to work for about 3 weeks until it lost connection one day and now it won't backup.

I tried to rebooting the router and my mac. Deleted and and re-added timemachine setting, USB settings in the router, and even formatted my drive but all I ever get is a message saying it's preparing the backup and then it just stops. Nothing wrong with the USB external drive from what I can tell, although it is only USB 2.0 it worked at one point so I don't get why it would just stop working.

Thanks

Hello @Pwal

Thank you for reaching out to us and welcome to the TP-Link community.

Please go through all the configuration steps by following this FAQ one more time to check if Time Machine will work:

How to use Time Machine function on TP-Link routers

If it still fails, please provide us with the below information:

1. What is the brand and model of the USB device that is attached to the AX55?

2. How about the capacity and format type of the USB device?

I would also suggest you try the suggestion provided by MosLim (#9) in the following link:

I tried everything again including Moslim formatting the drive as Apple Journaled Extended. I don't understand how I had it working for 2 weeks. Maybe an update broke it. This time around Time Machine connected and went to start the backup but then I got a popup on the screen "The File server Archer_AX55" is shutting down. Then in the router the usb drive is gone and only rebooting will bring it back: It's a Western Digital 2TB MyPassport Ultra: Free: 2 TB (1,999,288,582,144 bytes) Capacity: 2 TB (2,000,364,240,896 bytes) Mount Point: /Volumes/timemachine File System: Journaled HFS+ Writable: Yes Ignore Ownership: Yes BSD Name: disk4s1 Volume UUID: 44C2D19E-434E-321D-ADF5-C57A061FDA45 Physical Drive: Device Name: My Passport 0820 Media Name: WD My Passport 0820 Media Protocol: USB Internal: No Partition Map Type: MBR (Master Boot Record)

@Pwal Also when I check the drive it has started to write to it. There is a .sparesbundle but it's only 189.6 MB

@Pwal

Thank you very much for all the detailed information.

If that is possible, I would suggest you try another USB or HDD with the Time Machine on the AX55 to determine if that happens to work.

To assist and figure it out efficiently, I would like to forward your case to the TP-Link support engineers who will contact you with your registered email address later. Please pay attention to your email box for follow-up.
