Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.6.0 buld 20220525 rel. 48298

I am having issues with connecting to WiFi on this new firmware update.

I have tried disabling Beamforming and Fast Roaming with no luck.

When I try to connect to the Wifi Network on Windows, it fails to grab an IP address and says "Connected, No Internet"

On my iPhone, it sometimes won't give me the Wifi icon in the top menu bar and in the wifi settings, it just spins indefinitely and never connects.

I try "forgetting" the nework on both the iPhone and Windows Laptops and reconnecting to them but this doesn't usually help.

I'm not sure if it's something with the DHCP or what, but sometimes it works and other times it does not.

I feel like this could be because of the new firmware upgrade since it has been fine for years up until this point.

I am at my wits end with this.

  @daviwilso

Thanks for the feedback.

Have you tested whether the Ethernet connection is stable or not?

And may I have the model number and operating system of the devices that dropped the connection a lot?

Could you please help me run the following test when you are availble:

1. Please enable a guest network for 5ghz only and connect the phone to the guest network to see whether it improved the stability.

2. Please fix the connected Deco and connection preference for the wireless clients that did not move a lot.

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

  @David-TP

I believe everything that is hardwired via ethernet works perfectly.

My iPhone is an iPhone 13 Pro running iOS 15.5

I have 2 laptops that don't work via WiFi, One is an Acer from about a year ago, I can't remember the exact model, but it is on Windows 11, and the other one is an older HP Envy running windows 10 that I upgraded the WiFi Chip in. They both have WiFi 6 chips in them if that helps.

I've narrowed down the issue though.

This seems to only happen when I set the password to AES only. If it's set to AES and TKIP, it works perfectly.

I don't want to have TKIP enabled since it is less secure.

I tried the Guest network and the same thing happens, AES only, it just spins and never connects, but if I turn the TKIP + AES mode it works no problem.

The only work around I have found while keeping AES mode on, is by setting my DHCP range to start at 172.16.0.100 and manually assign IP addressses to the problemsome devices.

This really seems like a DHCP issue with AES.

  @David-TP Is there any word on this? Right now the only solution I have is manually assigning IP addresses since DHCP seems to be broken still even with TKIP. With Smarthome devices, this is prety hard since this relies on DHCP and I can't really manually assign the IPs.
