Model: Archer VR1600v
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: Firmware Version:0.1.0 0.9.1 v5006.0 Build 200810 Rel.53181n

Is there a maximum file / folder limit supported by the VR1600v? for USB Media Host Streaming?

I've plugged a drive full of media files into the Archer VR1600v and set it starting to scan.

It seemed to be running for a LONG time so I just let it go. Then today I saw the router reboot and worked out it's been happening every 2 hours or so.

Checked what was available to stream and each time it appears to lose what it's scanned and start again.

The drive is neatly laid out with files in folders, not 1000s of files in one root folder.

From Windows Networking the folders and all files are visible and able to be accessed. It's just the media streaming service that seems to be having a hard time.

Thank you!

Update:

After doing some testing, I've been able to unplug the drive as soon as the router self reboots. This has preserved the file db file and let me copy it off the drive.

There doesn't seem to be a size limit for the files db file, or at least if there is it's not consitantly crashing the router on reaching a particular file size. Largest files db file so far is 15,252KB, however I've had the router crash with it at 14,528 or lower.

I've tried deleting some files, deleting the last files it crashed on (seen in file db) in case they're corrupt, etc. and so far the best I can come up with is that there may be a maximum indexable file and / or folder limit.

It doesn't matter if it's movie, image or music format files, eventually and at about the same scan duration, the router reboots, the media_server folder is emptied and the scan process starts again.

Is there any validity to that?
