Hello,

My setup is following:

optical fiber ---> Modem -(ethernet)-> Router AX73 ---> Second Router AX73 working as AP ---> different devices both LAN and WiFi.

Both AX73 are new, but are dropping connection constantly. Orange light is on, when disconnected. Meanwhile router statistics shows, that main router is online without any connections issue, since last restart. ISP guys told me, that there are no disconnects in the modem too.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I have tried all the usual suspects (disabling Smart connect, changing wifi channels etc), without any luck. I set new LAN cables between modem and routers too, again with no luck. Connection drops for 30-90 seconds, then reconnects and works again.

System log is full of messages about Led-Controller. I will paste system log if needed.

Here is what system on AP log looks like:

Hello @BGKayso

Thank you for reaching out to us and welcome to the TP-Link community.

Can we firstly simplify the network with just connecting the main AX73 to the optical fiber modem? Will the internet be stable if the devices connect to the main AX73? Is it working as the main router and gateway for the whole network?

Who is your ISP? Have you ever tested if the internet is stable if you wire a computer directly to the optical fiber modem? If not yet, I would suggest you do that now, just to test and ensure the optical fiber modem does provide you a stable internet.

If you can get a stable connection when wiring a computer directly to the optical fiber modem, but the main AX73 still dropping randomly, please email the system log on the main AX73 to support.forum@tp-link.com, be sure that records the process when it drops the connection and reconnects. Thank you.

Dear Kevin,

i tried different scenarios, following your advice. Here is what I came to:

1. Main AX73 is connected to fiber modem directly with LAN cable. 1Gbps Full duplex.

2. Will the internet be stable if the devices connect to the main AX73 - no it is not. Both main router and AP router diconnects randomly. Some times only AP disconnects, while main router does not. But what is most interesting is, that when I check main router Network Status in Advanced menu, there are no disconnects at all! It states, that router is online since last restart and Internet never dropped. Router has sheduled restart 4am each day. Same with AP.

3. My ISP is A1-Bulgaria. I spoke with them several times and they see no issue with their connections.

4. I can't test with a PC directly to fiber modem, because I will leave the whole house without internet. My family will kill me :) The other issue is, that disconnects are completely random. I can't stay and look at computer whole day. But I will try my best, to test this case too.

Only symptoms are - ORANGE led on both routers or on AP router. And this type of messages in the system log:

2022-10-24 16:40:55 Led Controller INFO [1134] Start to run WAN1_ON

2022-10-24 16:40:55 Led Controller INFO [1134] Start to run WAN0_OFF

2022-10-24 16:40:55 Led Controller INFO [1134] Start to run LAN_ON

P.S.

5. Tested the cables with Network Cable tester device and everything is connected properly.

  @Kevin_Z

I spoke with support, they saw the logs and gave me some ideas.
So during the last weekend I changed all the network cables in my house with Cat6a instead of the old Cat5. Since yesterday routers didn't have a single drop in the connection. So the problem is solved and it was not a ROUTER problem!
And because I got gigabit internet at home since few months, probably the old cables were causing those disruptions despite that they were connected properly...

I will continue to monitor and will write again if there is an issue, but for now, everything is back to normal.

Thank you!
