Model: Deco X68
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.0.1 Build 20220518 Rel. 30814

Hi,

I've just installed a pair of Deco X68's and noticed the DHCP address reservation function is not working as it should

Procedure followed:

Start wired computer - wait for it to obtain an address, then in the Deco app go to Advanced > Address Reservation > + > Select the computer and save

result in address reservation:

computername

192.168.42.100

90-E2-BA-3C-32-14

So far so good.

Now reboot computername and it gets assigned 192.168.42.17

In the connected devices section it's listed as

computername

192.168.42.17

90-E2-BA-3C-32-14

The reservation still reads:

computername

192.168.42.100

90-E2-BA-3C-32-14

So the reservation appears to do nothing?

  @Gaspode42

Hi, if you try to reserve this new IP address to the same computer, will Deco APP report any error message?

I used to see the private address/random MAC address caused the address reservation to fail to work, but your MAC address did not change.

Are you able to check one more device to see whether the problem still existed?

Please also reboot Deco once to see whether it helped the PC to get the reserved PC.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

@David-TP No, no error messages at all.

The machine with the problem is a linux based TrueNAS server

A windows machine appears to have no problem grabbing a reserved IP.

The truenas server has no problem grabbing the desired IP if I replace the Deco with a Ubiquiti edgerouter for testing.

UPDATE:

It seems that if you add a reservation for an IP address that the TP-Link gave the system, it works

If you manually type the IP you want the system to have, it does not.
